P. Wesley Foster, Jr. '56 Stadium
Renovated the existing football stadium at Alumni Memorial Field and added 6,000 square feet to the football building creating additional locker and training room space including a 3,000 square foot weight room; reworked the practice field into an all weather, synthetic turf, field; demolished and rebuilt the upper level concession area; renovated the lower level locker rooms; built two entrance plazas; provided a new multimedia scoreboard; and renovated both the home and visitors stands.  The work consisted of approximately $13M constructed in ten months between the 2005 and 2006 football seasons.  Significant coordination between VMI administration officials, the Athletic Director, the football coaches, and the cadet athletes was critical to the overall success of the project.  The construction process was phased around the athletic schedules to minimize the impact of construction on football practice and to ensure the availability of the football faculties.  Close out of the project required ten different occupancy permits for the various building necessitating close contact with the state building official at the Bureau of Capital Outlay Management.  The project was completed on time, open for the first home football game, and it was under budget.
